Is it that time again? Time to clean out your garage, backyard, sheds, etc.? Instead of just dumping those old cans of paint, ant
ifreeze, refrigerators, freezers, and other hazardous waste and liquids into your garbage cans, gather all of your half empty cans of paint, your old computers, pool chemicals, and take them to the Solid Waste Management location on
October 3 and December 12, 2009!!!

I posted a blog a year ago on my Teri Ellis Active Rain Blog about fissures appearing throughout Phoenix and surrounding areas, including Queen Creek, Arizona!!! It has now reared its ugly head
once more. Check out my blog from last year in order to grab the links to the information you might need.
I received a call today from a woman living in Pecan Creek - North. She found my name online, and thought maybe I could “direct” her to a place she could lodge a concern or complaint about the “sink holes” appearing in her yard and that of her neighbors’ homes.
The builder, Fulton, had not remedied her problem, and customer service seemed unwilling to make certain her home was on stable ground. She told me that there were now issues with her water pipe. Her neighbor was experiencing similar problems and, in fact, cracks seemed to be causing stress on her patio.
My immediate thought was: “I was showing homes in that neighborhood last Saturday!!!” These are definitely warnings that need to be out there for potential home buyers/sellers.
My suggestions included: writing to Fulton Homes, reviewing the information HERE!!!! - and checking out the Arizona Department of Real Estate as well as sharing information on Twitter and Facebook to get the word out. I also told her I would post it on my blogs so people could be on the lookout.

I frequently share points of interest within a day’s ride from Mesa, Arizona. I promised to share some of the photos of the Painted Desert in Northern Arizona.
Located just about four hours north and east of Mesa, Arizona, the Painted Desert can be reached from the I-40 east of Holbrook, Arizona. As you enter the Park from the North end, you will be treated to panoramic views of amazing colors and shapes. Seriously, the scenery is literally a huge canvas of multiple colors, shadows, and light.
Well worth the trip. Feel free to call or email me with any other information I can provide.

This is an email I received today – purportedly from the IRS! Ask yourself: would you respond? Should you respond? The
answer is a resounding NO!!! Did you notice the misspellings? How about “u” instead of “you?”

Those of us living in the Valley of the Sun – it reached 100 degrees today – know how
much we rely on our air conditioners to keep us cool in the summer.
SRP is offering rebates ranging from $200 to $400 for customers who replace existing heat pumps or air conditioners with “qualifying” high-efficiency central cooling systems. The rebate star
ts May 1, 2009.
In addition, qualifying new systems placed in service from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010, may be eligible for a federal energy efficiency tax credit of up to $1,500.

SINCE I FIRST POSTED THIS, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED!!! Watch for next year, where, since 1966, SRP provides a great mower recycling service for existing customers. This year, collections are scheduled between 4 and 7 p.m. on May 1 and 8, and between 8:30 a.m. and noon on May 2 and 9 at the SRP PERA Club, 1 East Continental Drive, Tempe.
NEXT YEAR: Trade in your gas or old electric mowers and
receive rebates toward the purchase of new electric models. In addition, $ rebates are available for trading in other gas-powered lawn equipment such as a hedge trimmer or leaf blower.
This recycling program continues to bring down pollution in our valley. In 2008, more than 1,300 customers traded in their gas-powered mowers eliminating 32 tons of pollution from the Valley’s air. According to the calculations by SRP and Maricopa County, this would be equivalent to reducing 55,886 miles of driving per week.
